THE GRADE 5 SCHOLARSHIP SEMINAR ORGANIZED BY THE GROUP OF MID 80'S WAS HELD SUCCESSFULLY ON 14th OF  JULY 2011 AT ZAHIRA COLLEGE MAIN HALL WITH THE GRACE OF AL MIGHTY ALLAH.

The above seminar was successfully concluded on 14.07.2011 at Zahira College Main Hall.Around 300 students from 13 schools were benefited from this seminar.Highest scorers of the exam were rewarded by MID 80'S.All the participants were provided with stationery and meals.Project Chairman Abdul Kalam,Shafi Mohamed,Fowmy,Hafeel and Imamul Hassan were actively took part in this project.A volunteer Mr.Akabar rendered remarkable service to our project.We thank all the Principals,Teachers and Parents for thier cooperation to this project.We sincerely thank Mr.M.J.M.Iqbal-Principal of Zahira College Matale for his assitance.

Free Scholarship Seminar for Grade -5 Students

We are organising a free seminar for grade 5 Tamil medium students in the Matale District for the forthcoming Scholarship Examination at Zahira College -Matale on 14.07.2011.We are planning to provide stationery and refreshment for all the students.The chairman for the project is Mr.Abdul Kalam B.Com,Dip-in -Edu,M.A(Econ),M.Ed,SLPS -2 II  and the action committee in Matale is assisting him.Mr.K.M.A Cader -SLTS(Primary Trained)Head of Primary Section-ZCM is incharge of the exam and paper correction.Any financial contribution can be made to our official bank account.

SPONSORSHIP-ACADEMIC EXCELLENCE

Sri Lankan Muslim Society-Western Australia had given their concern to share the finacial assistance among three needy students.The appliacton forms will be given to school principal for selecting correct beneficiries.The final selection will be published in the blog after the approval of SLMS-WA.Once again we thank the President Project Chairman,Members and Imtiaz Ismail of SLMS-WA for thier valuable effort in this regard.

“Sponsor a Student – Academic Excellence”

The Sri Lankan Muslim Association of Western Australia decided to offer a sponsorship for a needy Zahirian for a year for his education.This project was brought to Mid80's by our active member Mr. Imtiaz who is in Perth- Australia. We sincerely thank the Muslims Association -WA and its former President Mr.Imtiaz for selecting a beneficiary from Zahira College-Matale for this sponsorship. The project proposal is given below. 



PERTH-WESTERN AUSTRALIA


“Sponsor a Student – Academic Excellence”

Assist two (2) needy students in Sri Lanka for their academic expenses for a year.

Sponsorship Amount:   Rs 3000 per month for each student (Rs 72,000.00 per annum)

Stage 1

·         The selection criteria: Students who have had achieved academic excellence either at a school level or district level having financial difficulties to cope with their day to day school expenses.

·         The principal and their relevant teachers should collaborate in choosing the appropriate student for this scholarship.

·         Prepare a student profile attested by the principal (details of the student; name, age, grade, etc, parents’ occupation, brief of academic achievement and financial difficulty the student is facing)

 Stage 2

·         SLMS will notify Mid 80’s of their decision

·         Deposit the amount to Mid 80’s account

·         Funds are managed and monthly payments are duly passed to the recipient by mid 80’s

·         Mid 80’s to maintain a financial statement for the fund management

Stage 3

·         Acknowledgement from the principal to Mid 80’s and to SLMS

·         Acknowledgement  from the parent or guardian to SLMS through mid 80’s

Stage 4

·         An interim report after 6 months by mid 80’s about the progress of the project

·         A report at the end of the first year

·         SLMS will make a review of the project

At present two of our active members in Matale are sponsoring a needy student in Matale .The action committee in Matale has already started their work to find a beneficiary.We request our members to make their suggestions in this regard.

Special Gathering & Dinner -Matale

A special gathering is organized by the action committee in Matale on 12.04.2011 at 06.30 P.M.(Insha Allah after magrib ) with dinner. All the members are invited to take part in this event.Accommodation will be provided to all the members .Our contribution to the school was made and the report will be posted very soon.Please note that ,all our activities on 13.04.2011 are cancelled.For more details please contact Mr.M.S.Shafi Mohamed.(0777 812 940)

The President and the Executive Committee was decided to open a bank account for Old Boys Group of Mid 80s and the same was opened at the Commercial Bank - Matale Branch.All the members and well wishers are requested to deposit their financial contribution only to this account.The above account is in the names of founder members M.S.Shafi Mohamed,M.M.Hafeel and M.S.M.Naleer.The account number is 1080035255.This account was opened in order to safeguard the good will of our group we have established in the community.All are informed not to make any payments to any individual or any other bank account in the name of Mid 80s.

All the past financial accounts of our activities are available with the Executive Committee and can be inspected at any time with prior appointment.

School Project

Our group has undertaken the refurbishment of our College Icon building "Cassim Block". The estimated cost is SLR50,000.00. This amount will be shared amongst the members.

FAMILY DAY - 2010

The "Family Day" of Mid 80's was held at the School Main Hall on 25th of December 2010.More than 24 families took part in this wonderful event.It was a function of children of all the members and they displayed their talents .Some of the members entered the school campus after two decades. It was an invaluable moment for all the members and their families. Sincere thanks goes to Shafi, Hafeel and Siddique for organizing this wonderful event with a souvenir. We trust our next family day will be celebrated with more member participation.
